A Note from Bro.
Jay…
Summer 2008
It has been a great year at Sharon Heights Baptist Church and I know
that you are excited that school is out and summer is here!
Congratulations to our seniors: Nick Hogue, Kayla Carroll, Megan
Turner and John Speights. We wish them well as they begin a new
journey in their lives. We will also be welcoming the new sixth
graders into the Student Ministry beginning with our Beach Retreat/VBS
in July. From that point, they will be involved in the Student
Ministry activities & classes as school begins in August.
I know summer is a time to kick back & relax but don’t forget that
God’s work is a 24/7, year-long commitment. Please make every effort
to be involved in church and Student Ministry activities during the
summer when you’re home. It’s a time to get recharged and renewed
spiritually to get ready for another year on the largest mission
field you will ever encounter, your school! Did you know that 86% of
people who trust Christ do so because of the simple invitation of
their friend? Get ready to be that friend that makes an eternal
difference in someone’s life!
We have several ministry opportunities and activities planned for
the summer to make the most of your time out of school and to
encourage you to stay plugged-in to church this summer. Put these on
your calendar so you can be involved in what God has planned for you
this summer. It will also be a great time of fellowship with other
Christian youth and adults.
In May, we started mailing out a monthly parent newsletter with a
monthly calendar of Student Ministry opportunities. We will continue
this through the summer to see what kind of feedback we get from
parents and decide if this is something that is helpful to parents
of our students. Please let me know what you think about the
newsletter so we can make a decision on whether to continue this or
not.
Be sure to check out our calendar so that you know what is happening
this summer! If there is anything I can do to help you or answer
questions you might have, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m
looking forward to an awesome summer at SHBC!
